Daredevil

Any other Daredevil fans here? The new season came out on netflix last friday and I pretty much neglected everything besides class to be able to watch the entire season in 24hrs. I have issues… Anyways. The new season starts pretty much where the last season left off. I was happy if slightly annoyed when I found out Fisk was still in it. Granted, I should have known that after my rant about why I loved how Deadpool ended. I’ll make a separate post for that.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know much about comic books outside their on screen adaptations so all I know about Daredevil is that he’s Marvel and anything else that’s been in the show. That being said, this was my first introduction to Elektra and Frank Castle aka the Punisher. I loved Frank’s character. He had so much depth and personality to him and was a great contrast to Matt Murdock. Those two are so similar but so different with how they go about dealing with the evil in Hell’s Kitchen and both believed in their way of doing things. Frank probably more than Matt.

And then there was Elektra. Now normally I like her kind of character. Flawed, badass, acts like nothing bothered her, but for the most part she annoyed me. Mainly because she was interrupting Matt’s life during Frank Castle’s trial and when he finally had a good thing going with Karen. She just. She was an awesome character but she was too disrupting. I get that is what the writers and directors wanted but still! I can only hope after that season finale that maybe Karen and Matt can pick things back up.

Once last thing I feel the need to comment on. The fight sequences. I love the fight sequences on this show. The stunt team is on point! Even if the fights are sometimes a little too flamboyant, they look awesome and that’s all that matters. And then The Hand, the evil organization that Stick’s “war” is all about fighting. Maybe it’s just me and maybe it’s just my love of Arrow, but there were a few times I said to myself, “there’s some League of Assassins’ shit going down right now.” I couldn’t help make that comparision even though Daredevil is Marvel and Arrow is DC.

Anyways, if you are currently suffering from Daredevil withdraw, I feel ya. Comment your thoughts and/or feelings if you want. I’d love to hear from other people about this season.

Book Rant – Glass Sword

Let me just start this by saying that I can never remember the name of this book. It’s just that unmemorable. I only got it because I did read the first one and I thought it would be good to try to keep up with some of the more popular fiction. I had so many issues with the first book by Victoria Aveyard that I don’t know what I was thinking when I gave in and got this book. I am about 200 pages in and I don’t even know how I got that far. It’s so repetitive. The first part of the book was “any one can betray anyone.” Like every other paragraph it just repeated that. Like, I get it. You can stop now. Now I’m on the part where she wishes Kilorn could live a normal life in the stilts in every other paragraph. It gets annoying. Like just say it once and I’ll get it. You don’t need to repeat it every damn chance you get. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t read more than like a page at a time. It’s just so bland. I don’t know how my older brother can like this book. It’s not even “ok.” It’s just blah. I’ll eventually finish this book but I very much doubt it will be anytime soon. I just can’t deal with Mare and her whining.

I feel like this book is barely moving forward and is just repeating steps in the plot in a different way. Oh, look we found one newblood, now let’s look for all the rest in almost the same exact way! No. Just. Take the fight to Maven and be done with it. I can’t stand all this running around not really getting anything done. Let’s not forget the fact that they’re also running from the rebellion because the rebellion betrayed them like almost every other YA. I’m tired of all these rehashed themes. I don’t care how original you try to make it. Do something that makes it truly stand out. Like how different An Ember In the Ashes and The Mortal Instruments series were. They were both pretty damn original compared to Glass Sword which rehashes pretty much themes from every other popular YA books right now. Dystopian. Powerful main protagonist who’s different in some way. Rebellion who’s motives are questionable. Evil dictator or king. 2 love interests for main character. Need I go on? How many different YA books does that sound like? I should honestly just give up on YA, but every so often I do find a good book in there. I don’t know. Oh well.

Book Review – After You

After You by Jojo Moyes is the sequel story to Me Before You and takes place after the events of Me Before You with Louisa trying to pick up the pieces of her life when she get’s an unexpected visitor and gets into an accident.

I devoured this book, I really did. But I saw a review on Goodreads that I couldn’t help but agree with. After You was not needed. The first book ended well. Tragically. But well. Jojo Moyes could have left well enough alone but she didn’t. The fans wanted more so she gave them more in a truly fanfiction-esque style. Which was probably why I liked it as much as I did. I love reading some good fanfiction. But there was just so much in this book that was extra. The only reason why Lily existed, really, was to move the plot forward and to give Louisa a purpose and a conflict in her life. And while, due to the ending of Me Before You, Will wasn’t in the book at all we were never lacking his presence which I appreciated. A lot. Will was just as much a part of the story as he was at the beginning of the journey, but it also wasn’t the same. The fans flocked to this book because of their need for more Louisa. And Will and while they did get that they also got so much more. All in all, I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved it but i don’t know if it was necessary. I’d give it 4/5 stars.

Kingdom Hearts <3

Any gamers here? I’m not much of a gamer. My games pretty much only include Finial Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. That being said, I probably spent like 6-7 hours yesterday playing the first Kingdom Hearts game. My friend told me, “I didn’t know you weren’t a functional member of society today,” on snapchat. Rude! I got virtually nothing accomplished besides a side quest, leveling up, and getting the Ultima Keyblade.  First time I got it! 😀 It made Hades Cup at the Olympus Coliseum a little too easy. If all goes well I may even actually try to beat Sephiroth for once. We shall see. Oh well. It was a fun day of being lazy. I even played during the commercials of Legends of Tomorrow and The 100. But my Kingdom Hearts obsession is to blame for my lack of posting. Shhh… Oh well. I’ll eventually get caught up to everything I want to post. Maybe. I do have some posts planned I hope to get posted in the next day or so if I’m ever not at work.

General Update

Hello everyone. I feel bad not being on for a while not that anyone probably noticed. I still feel bad though. I’ve been busy with real life. Real life is so dull. Anyways, I few things I’m going to try to publish today. I read and finished After You, the sequel to Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. So expect a review on that. I started reading Glass Sword, the sequel to Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. While I’m not finished with that I do want to rant about it so look forward to that. And to leave off another hand made bookmark. This one is for my coworker. Sorry for my questionable camera. I’ll eventually get an actual camera that isn’t my phone.

DIY Bookmarks

For some unknown reason that comes from working at a craft store I decided to jump back into my bead collection and make some ribbon bookmarks with my beads.

I already had everything but the ribbon and the charm. It was quite fun to make and now I’m going to make some for friends and maybe eventually sell them. Either way, I enjoy crafting. Except for the fact that I end up spending too much money when I get crafting and it takes away from reading. It’s a hard balance.

The tassel at the bottom is made out of seed beads that I strung myself. The charm I bought as is. I attached both to the ribbon with ribbon clasps. Didn’t take me long to make. Made it in a few hours. What took me the longest was all those seed beads. XD
